£100m Star’s Agent Confirms City & Arsenal Battle Brewing

Sandro Tonali’s agent has confirmed that both Arsenal and Manchester City are likely to battle for the Newcastle United midfielder this summer, with the Italian international valued at £100 million.

Giuseppe Riso told Calcio Finanza that interest from Premier League elite clubs was always part of the plan when Tonali moved to England. The agent suggested that catching the attention of top clubs like Arsenal and City was ‘the goal from the moment he went to England.’

January Interest Revisited

Tonali was offered to Arsenal on transfer deadline day in January after Mikel Merino’s injury left the Gunners short in midfield. While Arsenal explored a potential move for a player they admire, no direct negotiations took place during the winter window.

Interest has since intensified, with Manchester United also credited with firm interest as they seek a replacement for Casemiro, who is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.

£100 Million Valuation

Newcastle are demanding £100 million for Tonali, nearly double what they paid for him just two years ago. The midfielder’s agent believes he represents exceptional value in the current market.

“I think he’s the Italian footballer with one of the highest values in the world,” Riso stated.

When directly asked whether an impressive World Cup performance could lead to moves to City or Arsenal, Riso responded: “I don’t know, but it’s very likely. Everyone’s waiting for the World Cup, and then a thousand situations arise, but everything starts after the World Cup.”

World Cup Factor

Tonali’s future may remain on hold until after this summer’s World Cup. Italy must first navigate qualification, facing Northern Ireland in a play-off semi-final later this month. The winners will then face Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina for a place at the tournament.

Should Italy qualify for the World Cup in North America, any potential transfer discussions could be delayed until after the competition concludes. This timeline would suit Newcastle’s desire to retain their prized midfielder for as long as possible.

The situation sets up what could be a significant summer transfer battle between two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, with Tonali’s World Cup performances potentially determining his next destination.
