Riccardo Calafiori has been named in Italian media reports linking several Serie A players to an escort service scandal, though the Arsenal defender faces no investigation or charges.
The controversy emerged after reports in Italy claimed multiple footballers were identified through material connected to a case involving two individuals working as escorts. Calafiori’s inclusion reportedly relates to his time playing in Serie A before joining Arsenal.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, wiretaps were conducted during the investigation, leading to the publication of names after the case allegedly revealed a client list. However, none of the individuals named are currently under investigation.
No criminal wrongdoing implied
The Italian publication stressed that under current Italian law, paying for sex is not considered a criminal offence. The emergence of names in media reports does not automatically imply any wrongdoing by those mentioned.
Several high-profile figures have been linked to the story, including former players such as Dejan Stankovic. The reports appear to focus on the period when these players were active in Italian football.
There is currently no indication the controversy will have direct consequences for Calafiori, with his name published alongside others reportedly connected to the case through the investigation materials.
Arsenal focus unchanged
The north London club continues to regard Calafiori as an important player, with no suggestion the matter will alter how Arsenal views the defender. The Italian international has established himself as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad since his summer arrival.
Arsenal remain focused on the closing stages of the campaign as they pursue major honours domestically and in Europe. With crucial matches still to come, attention inside the club is likely to remain centred on on-pitch performances rather than off-field speculation.
Unless further developments emerge, the issue is unlikely to become a significant distraction for either the player or Arsenal. Calafiori remains part of Arteta’s plans, with the defender expected to continue contributing as the Gunners chase success in the final stretch of the season.
The reports currently appear to be a media story rather than a matter carrying sporting or legal consequences for the Arsenal defender, with the distinction between being named in reports and facing formal accusations remaining important.
