Arsenal Eye Free Transfer Move for £25m-Rated Bundesliga Star

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt, who is set to leave the German club as a free agent at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old Germany international has failed to agree on a new contract with Dortmund after several weeks of negotiations. What initially appeared to be progressing towards an extension has now stalled completely, with both parties deciding to part ways.
Brandt’s departure will end his five-year stay at Signal Iduna Park, where he has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most consistent creative forces. The attacking midfielder has made over 180 appearances for Dortmund since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019.

Arsenal’s Long-Standing Interest
The Gunners have been linked with Brandt on multiple occasions in recent years, with the club reportedly viewing him as one of the finest talents German football has to offer. His availability on a free transfer could make him an particularly attractive proposition for Arsenal’s recruitment team.
According to the Metro, Arsenal are now actively considering making a move for the versatile attacker. The report suggests the club believes Brandt could provide valuable experience and depth to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Brandt’s technical ability and versatility would align well with Arsenal’s current tactical approach. Capable of operating across multiple attacking positions, he could offer Arteta greater tactical flexibility in both domestic and European competitions.
Perfect Timing for New Challenge
The timing could work well for both player and club. Brandt has never played outside Germany during his professional career, having progressed through Wolfsburg’s academy before moves to Leverkusen and Dortmund.
At 30, the experienced international may be ready for a new challenge abroad, while Arsenal could benefit from adding a proven performer who wouldn’t require an adjustment period to European football’s demands.
Brandt has represented Germany 48 times, scoring eight goals, and brings significant Champions League experience from his time with both Leverkusen and Dortmund. This European pedigree could prove valuable as Arsenal look to establish themselves as regular Champions League competitors.
The potential free transfer represents the type of shrewd business Arsenal have become known for under Arteta and sporting director Edu. Adding an experienced, technically gifted player without a transfer fee would provide excellent value in today’s inflated market.
With Brandt’s Dortmund contract expiring in June, any interested clubs will be able to begin formal negotiations from January onwards. Arsenal’s reported interest suggests they could be ready to move quickly to secure his services ahead of other potential suitors across Europe.
