Arsenal Legend Tips Brazilian Forward for Summer Exit

Ray Parlour believes Gabriel Jesus could leave Arsenal at the end of the current season as the Brazilian seeks regular playing time that has become increasingly scarce at the Emirates.
The former Arsenal midfielder’s prediction comes as Jesus finds himself down the pecking order following the summer arrival of Viktor Gyokeres, who has significantly altered the attacking hierarchy under Mikel Arteta.
Competition Intensifies Following Major Investment
Arsenal invested heavily to secure the Swedish striker during the summer transfer window, and the club appears committed to giving Gyokeres the time and support required to justify that substantial financial outlay. This shift has naturally pushed Jesus further down the pecking order.

The Brazilian has struggled with consistent availability throughout his Arsenal career due to a series of injuries. While he has delivered important performances at times, Jesus has never been regarded as a particularly prolific goalscorer during his time in north London.
With Arsenal’s squad now containing several attacking options, the competition for starting positions has intensified considerably. This means Jesus must significantly improve his performances if he hopes to reclaim a regular role in Arteta’s plans.
Parlour Sees Writing on the Wall
As reported by the Metro, Parlour believes the circumstances may ultimately force Jesus to seek opportunities elsewhere. The Arsenal legend explained his reasoning behind the potential departure.
“I think Jesus might leave at the end of the season, he is at that age where he wants to be playing week in, week out,” Parlour said. “We could lose him. We had four strikers when I played. That’s what I don’t understand. (Regardless of Jesus leaving), bring in another one anyway. That can give the other options a lift because they see the standard being set.”
Parlour’s comments highlight the competitive nature of Arsenal’s current attacking department and the difficult decisions that arise when multiple forwards compete for limited starting positions.
Future Depends on Opportunities
The Brazilian’s future at Arsenal will likely depend on how much playing time he receives during the remainder of the season and the club’s long-term plans for their attacking options.
At 29, Jesus is at a stage in his career where regular football becomes increasingly important, particularly with major tournaments and his Brazil career to consider. The arrival of Gyokeres has created a challenging situation that could ultimately force a summer decision.
Whether Jesus ultimately departs will depend on his ability to force his way back into Arteta’s first-choice plans and the club’s willingness to maintain such depth in their attacking options moving forward.
