However, according to Leonino, a news outlet dedicated to Sporting CP, the Gunners are ‘very close’ to securing a deal for Viktor Gyokeres.

Leonino presents this claim as a significant exclusive, and they’re not usually quick to jump on rumours.

Financial Details Still in Negotiation

Leonino claims that only ‘financial details’ are holding up the agreement at the moment.

Specific figures on Arsenal’s offer have not been disclosed.

As with all transfer news, it’s wise to wait for confirmation from more traditional newspapers in Portugal, but the potential move is certainly generating excitement among Arsenal supporters.

Gyokeres’ Impact at Sporting CP

Sporting CP spent €21 million to sign Gyokeres from Coventry City last summer.

In his debut season in Portugal, the Swedish forward was outstanding, scoring 43 goals and providing 15 assists in 50 appearances.

His remarkable performance quickly made him a key player for the Lions.

Despite speculation about a potential departure, Gyokeres had recently suggested he might stay with Sporting CP for the 2024/25 season, which had quelled many transfer rumours.

However, if Arsenal is indeed making a move for him, more concrete reports should soon emerge across Portuguese media.

Arsenal’s Pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal’s interest in Gyokeres aligns with their ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

The Gunners are keen to add more firepower to their attack, and Gyokeres’ prolific scoring record makes him a valuable target.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are reportedly working hard to finalise the deal, addressing the financial aspects that are currently stalling the transfer.

Should the negotiations be successful, Gyokeres could become Arsenal’s latest addition, boosting their chances in both domestic and European competitions.
