Arsenal Planning Domestic Loan for Nwaneri After Marseille Stint

Arsenal are considering a domestic loan move for teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri this summer, as the club continues to carefully manage the development of one of our most promising academy graduates.
Nwaneri is currently on loan at Olympique Marseille for the second half of the season, but his French adventure hasn’t gone entirely to plan. According to Just Arsenal, the 18-year-old was initially sent to work under Roberto De Zerbi, a coach renowned for developing young talent. However, De Zerbi was sacked less than a month after Nwaneri’s arrival, leaving our youngster to prove himself under new management.
Why Arsenal Changed Their Mind
We were initially reluctant to let Nwaneri leave the Emirates, preferring to integrate him into our first-team setup. The club worked throughout the summer to keep his development in-house rather than farming him out on loan.

However, the opportunity to work with De Zerbi proved too tempting to refuse. The Italian’s track record with young players at Brighton made the Marseille move an attractive proposition for Nwaneri’s growth.
Despite the managerial change, reports suggest the teenager is adapting well to Ligue 1 football and demonstrating why he’s considered one of England’s most promising young talents.
Premier League Experience Next?
Looking ahead to next season, Arsenal are open to another loan move if it serves Nwaneri’s long-term development. This time, however, we’re likely to look closer to home.
Football Insider reports that if Arsenal do sanction another temporary departure, a domestic move would be preferred. This approach would allow Nwaneri to gain valuable Premier League experience while remaining under closer scrutiny from our coaching staff.
The strategy makes perfect sense. A loan to a mid-table Premier League side or ambitious Championship club would give Nwaneri regular first-team football in a familiar environment, without the cultural and tactical adjustments that come with playing abroad.
Smart Long-Term Planning
This measured approach reflects Mikel Arteta’s commitment to nurturing our academy talents properly. Rather than rushing Nwaneri into our first team or sending him to random clubs, we’re building a clear development pathway.
The fact that multiple Premier League sides have already shown interest in taking him on loan demonstrates the quality we have on our hands. With careful management, Nwaneri could be ready to contribute meaningfully to our squad within the next 12-18 months.
