As the new season approaches, Mikel Arteta‘s squad remains unchanged despite ongoing efforts to strengthen their team and challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Arsenal’s Transfer Window Off to a Slow Start

With pre-season on the horizon, Arsenal have yet to make any new signings.

The Gunners, led by sporting director Edu Gaspar, have been cautious in the transfer market.

Recent successful acquisitions, like Declan Rice, have set high expectations, but no new faces have arrived at the Emirates Stadium so far.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal were offered the chance to sign Jadon Sancho but chose to pass on the opportunity.

The decision reflects Arsenal’s strategic approach to their summer transfers, prioritizing specific targets over opportunistic signings.

Jadon Sancho Mixed Journey

Jadon Sancho, who joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, struggled to find consistent form at Old Trafford.

His stint back at Dortmund on loan saw a resurgence in his performance, contributing three goals and three assists and helping the team reach the Champions League final.

Despite this, both Arsenal and other Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City have opted not to pursue the winger.

Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit, previously described Sancho as a potential “superstar,” highlighting his impressive stats in German football.

However, his inconsistency at Manchester United has led to skepticism about his ability to perform at the highest level in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s decision to pass on Sancho indicates their focus on long-term squad building rather than short-term fixes.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are carefully considering their options as they aim to construct a squad capable of competing consistently at the top of the league.
