Gyokeres Nearing Arsenal Move

Reports from Sporting Lisbon’s dedicated news outlet, Leonino, suggest that Arsenal are “very close” to signing Viktor Gyokeres.

Although the news has yet to be confirmed by sources in Portugal, Leonino claims to have an exclusive on the story.

The main obstacle at present appears to be the finalisation of financial terms.

The exact amount Arsenal have offered remains undisclosed.

Leonino commented on the potential transfer:

“If this move to Arsenal materialises, Gyokeres will have the chance to showcase his talent in the world’s most competitive league. Sporting, meanwhile, is preparing to make the biggest sale in its history.”

Record-Breaking Season for Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres has had an outstanding season with Sporting Lisbon.

Since joining from Coventry City last summer for €21 million (£17.7 million), he has scored 43 goals and provided 14 assists in 50 appearances.

This remarkable performance has not only helped Sporting secure direct qualification for the Champions League by winning the championship but also placed Gyokeres at the centre of transfer speculations.

The potential sale of Gyokeres is expected to be a record-breaking deal for Sporting Lisbon, which could significantly enhance their financial capabilities to reinforce their squad for the upcoming season.

Sporting’s High Valuation and Sell-On Clause

Sporting Lisbon are reportedly reluctant to part ways with the 26-year-old Swedish striker and have set a hefty price tag of £68.5 million on Gyokeres.

Initial reports indicated that his release clause might be as high as £86 million.

Given his recent performances, it’s clear why Sporting values him so highly and is keen to retain his services.

An additional financial consideration for this transfer is the sell-on clause agreed upon with Coventry City when Gyokeres joined Sporting.

Coventry is set to receive 10 percent of any profit from Gyokeres’ future sale, which adds another layer of financial complexity to the deal.

Arsenal’s Transfer Strategy Shifts

Initially, it seemed unlikely that Arsenal would be willing to meet Sporting’s valuation for a new striker.

However, the transfer landscape has shifted. Interest in Joshua Zirkzee has waned, and Benjamin Sesko has committed his future to RB Leipzig with a contract extension.

These developments have left Arsenal eager to secure their attacking targets, making them more inclined to meet Sporting’s demands for Gyokeres.
