Cristhian Mosquera has praised the impact of William Saliba and Gabriel in helping him adapt to life at Arsenal following his £13million summer move from Valencia.

The 21-year-old defender has made 25 appearances in his debut season with the Gunners, establishing himself as a valuable squad member as the club fights for silverware across three competitions.

Speaking to Europa Press, Mosquera highlighted how the experienced centre-back pairing have taken him under their wing since his arrival in north London.

“From day one, the two of them have been by my side, giving me advice and always trying to look after me, like parents, like older siblings. I’m very grateful to them. They are two of the best centre-backs in the world, and it’s a pleasure and a privilege to train with them and watch them play every weekend.”

The Spanish defender admitted leaving Valencia, where he had spent his entire career, was not easy but believes it was the right decision for his development.

“I’d spent practically half my life, or my whole life, in Valencia, and leaving what’s been your home isn’t easy, but it was the right decision. I’m very happy in London and I’ve settled in much quicker than I thought I would.”

Ready for title challenge

Mosquera expressed confidence that Arsenal are primed for success this season after years of falling short of their ambitions. The defender believes the squad has the quality to end the club’s six-year trophy drought.

“In recent years, Arsenal hasn’t quite achieved what it set out to do, but I think we’re ready this year. We know we have the chance to win titles. We’re going to do everything we can to bring joy to the fans.”

The young defender was recently rewarded for his progress with a first senior Spain cap during the international break, underlining his rapid development since arriving at Emirates Stadium.

Crucial fixtures ahead

Arsenal face a demanding schedule as they return from the international break. Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton will be followed three days later by the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Sporting.

Mosquera remains optimistic about the club’s European prospects, noting their strong campaign so far in reaching the last eight of the competition.

The defender’s comments come at a crucial juncture for Arsenal, who are competing on multiple fronts for the first time in several seasons. His successful integration into the squad, aided by Saliba and Gabriel’s mentorship, represents another shrewd piece of business by the club’s recruitment team.
