Arsenal could suffer huge Noni Madueke injury blow

Arsenal summer signing Noni Madueke could face a substantial injury setback after yesterday’s Manchester City draw.
Noni Madueke’s encouraging start to life as an Arsenal player may have come to a crushing halt after the England international suffered a concerning knee injury during the Gunners’ 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. The 23-year-old winger, who joined from Chelsea for £52million in July, experienced discomfort in his knee at half-time and was subsequently withdrawn by manager Mikel Arteta.
Initial reports suggest there are fears that Madueke may have damaged his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), an injury that typically requires surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period. The former Chelsea man is due to undergo scans today to determine the full extent of the damage, with Arsenal medical staff anxious about the potential severity of the problem.

According to @ConMarbleHalls on X, the injury concerns emerged during the interval of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City. Madueke had been Arsenal’s most dangerous attacking threat in the first half, causing problems for the City defence with his pace and direct running before the injury forced his premature exit.
The timing of this potential setback could hardly be worse for Arsenal, who have already been dealing with a lengthy injury list this season. Captain Martin Ødegaard has struggled with shoulder problems, whilst Gabriel Jesus remains sidelined with his own ACL injury sustained earlier in the year. William Saliba and Bukayo Saka both only recently returned to action after their injury struggles.
If the ACL fears are confirmed following scans, Madueke could be facing a rehabilitation period of between six to nine months, which could effectively end his debut season with the North London club. Such an outcome would represent a devastating blow for both player and club, particularly given the winger’s impressive performances since his summer transfer.
Madueke has started five of Arsenal’s six matches across all competitions this season, quickly establishing himself as a key component of Arteta’s attacking setup.
Arsenal face Port Vale in the League Cup on Wednesday, followed by a crucial Premier League fixture away at Newcastle United next weekend. The Gunners currently sit five points behind league leaders Liverpool and cannot afford to lose further ground in the title race, making Madueke’s potential long-term absence all the more concerning for their title ambitions.
