Arsenal have identified Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi as key summer targets, with both players expected to cost in excess of £80m each, according to BBC Sport.

The Gunners are looking to build on their historic Premier League title triumph with significant summer investment, though financial constraints mean player sales will be crucial to funding new arrivals.

Forward targets emerge

Rogers and Kroupi headline Arsenal’s forward shortlist alongside Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, who is valued at more than £120m. The 23-year-old Rogers has attracted interest from Manchester United as well, but sources indicate the England international is open to joining Arsenal ahead of next season.

Kroupi represents another exciting opportunity after the 19-year-old scored 13 times in the Premier League – a record for a teenage debutant. The club view Alvarez as their dream signing, though Barcelona also hold serious interest in the Argentina attacker.

Any forward arrivals could be facilitated by departures, with Arsenal open to offers for Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. Leandro Trossard enters the final year of his contract, while academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri’s future remains uncertain following his loan spell at Marseille.

Arteta contract priority

Finalising Mikel Arteta’s new contract remains the summer’s top priority, with talks set to resume after being shelved during the title run-in. The Spaniard’s current deal expires at the end of next season, but positive progress during initial conversations has created expectation that renewal is a matter of when, not if.

Arteta currently earns £10m per season plus £5m upon Champions League qualification. His new deal, likely spanning a minimum of three years, would include a major increase and potentially make him England’s highest-paid manager following Pep Guardiola’s departure from Manchester City.

Squad balance required

Arsenal face the challenge of balancing their books after last season’s £250m spend on new players, coupled with renewal bonuses and lucrative success payments following their Premier League triumph. The club are set to listen to offers for Christian Norgaard and Ben White, while Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson can also depart. Jakub Kiwior has already been sold to Porto for £14.7m.

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s excellent end-of-season form in central midfield may alter Arsenal’s transfer plans in that position, with the 19-year-old’s emergence potentially reducing the need for additional midfield reinforcement.

Contract discussions with Jurrien Timber are nearing conclusion, while the club have signalled intentions to open talks with Declan Rice over an extension. Arsenal’s summer blueprint under Arteta’s guidance will require careful financial navigation to achieve their ambitions of sustained success at the highest level.
