Arsenal target four key signings after Champions League final heartbreak

Arsenal are planning to strengthen four key positions this summer following their penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday night.
The Gunners claimed their first Premier League title in 22 years but fell just short of completing a remarkable double in Budapest. After a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes, PSG edged the penalty shootout 4-3, with misses from Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes proving costly for Arsenal.

Four priority positions identified
Despite the disappointment, Arsenal are not resting on their laurels. According to David Ornstein speaking to TNT Sports, the club has identified four specific areas for improvement: centre-forward, left-winger, a six/eight midfielder and right-back.
The left side of attack has been labeled a ‘big priority’ and represents a position the club has monitored for some time. Arsenal are seeking an upgrade on current options Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli in that role.
Questions also remain over the centre-forward position despite Viktor Gyokeres’ arrival last summer. The Swedish striker managed 21 goals across all competitions this season but found himself on the bench for the Champions League final, with Mikel Arteta preferring Kai Havertz in the central role.
Midfield uncertainty emerges
Martin Zubimendi’s status as Declan Rice’s midfield partner has become less certain following a drop in form during the second half of the season. The Spain international was also benched for the final, with Arteta opting for Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield instead.
At right-back, any new signing would likely provide cover for Jurrien Timber, who remains first choice when fit despite ongoing injury concerns throughout his Arsenal career. Cristhian Mosquera, a natural centre-back, started in that position against PSG.
The anticipated summer recruitment drive could trigger departures for players facing reduced opportunities. If a new left-winger arrives, both Martinelli and Trossard are unlikely to remain, as three players would compete for one position. A central midfielder addition could spell the end for Christian Norgaard, who has rarely featured since joining from Brentford last year.
Gabriel Jesus may also face an uncertain future if Arsenal strengthen their striker options, with the Brazilian already third choice behind Gyokeres and Havertz. Arsenal will look to build on their Premier League success and return stronger for another Champions League campaign in 2027.
