Arsenal Women travel to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening for the Champions League quarter-final second leg, holding a commanding 3-1 lead from last week’s first encounter at Arsenal Stadium.
The defending champions arrive in west London on the back of an impressive 11-game winning streak across all competitions, including Saturday’s emphatic 5-2 victory over Tottenham in the WSL. Arsenal have been in devastating form in front of goal, netting 13 times in their last three matches.

Team news and squad updates
Arsenal manager Renee Slegers will welcome back captain Leah Williamson, who is likely to return to the squad after recovering from a hamstring issue. However, the Gunners remain without Katie Reid, Manu Zinsberger and Michelle Agyemang due to ACL injuries, while Kyra Cooney-Cross is unavailable on compassionate leave.
The available squad includes goalkeepers Votikova, van Domselaar, Borbe and Williams, with defensive options featuring Fox, Wubben-Moy, L.Codina, Williamson, Catley, McCabe, Hinds and Holmberg. The midfield will be anchored by captain Little alongside Mariona, L.Maanum, Pelova and Brodie, while the forward line boasts quality in Mead, Smith, Kelly, Foord, Russo and Blackstenius.
Chelsea pose genuine threat despite deficit
Despite Arsenal’s healthy advantage, Slegers remains cautious about the task ahead. The first leg was described as “helter skelter” and could have taken several different turns, with both sides creating numerous chances throughout the encounter.
Chelsea showed defensive vulnerabilities in their recent 4-3 victory over Aston Villa, but they have been strengthened by the return of Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter from the Asian Cup. Kerr’s presence in the penalty area adds a different dimension to Chelsea’s attack, having previously relied on Lauren James and Alyssa Thompson as split strikers.
According to Arseblog News, Slegers emphasized the controlled approach needed: “It was a very tight game against Chelsea in the first leg. We know it’s going to be a battle tomorrow again. It’s only half time, so there’s a lot of work to do for us.”
Stina Blackstenius is expected to spearhead Arsenal’s attack once again, having scored in each of her last four appearances. The Swedish striker has become integral to Arsenal’s biggest matches, with her partnership alongside Alessia Russo proving particularly effective when the latter drops into a withdrawn role.
The match kicks off at 8pm and will be broadcast live on Disney+ and BBC Two in the UK. Arsenal will be seeking to secure their passage to another Champions League semi-final and eliminate their London rivals in the process.
