Arsenal’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Sporting Lisbon has been officially scheduled, with the Gunners set to face the Portuguese champions across two legs in April.

The first leg will take place at the Jose Alvalade Stadium on Tuesday, 7th April at 8pm UK time, with the return fixture at the Emirates Stadium scheduled for Wednesday, 15th April, also kicking off at 8pm.

The confirmation of these dates means Arsenal’s Premier League fixture against Bournemouth will remain in its original Saturday, 11th April slot at 12.30pm, fitting neatly between the two European encounters.

Packed April schedule

The Champions League fixtures are part of what promises to be a demanding month for Arteta’s side. Arsenal’s April calendar begins with an FA Cup quarter-final away to Southampton on Saturday, 4th April at 8pm.

Following the Sporting double-header, the Gunners face a crucial Premier League trip to Manchester City on Sunday, 19th April at 4.30pm, before hosting Newcastle on Saturday, 25th April at 5.30pm – though this final fixture could be rescheduled if Arsenal progress past Southampton in the FA Cup.

The scheduling presents both opportunities and challenges for the north London side, who will need to manage their squad carefully across multiple competitions while maintaining their push for silverware on several fronts.

Semi-final incentive

Should Arsenal overcome Sporting across the two legs, they would advance to face either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals. The semi-final first legs are scheduled for 28th/29th April, with the second legs taking place on 5th/6th May.

According to Arseblog, Arsenal would play the first leg of any potential semi-final away from home.

The quarter-final draw pits Arsenal against familiar European opposition in Sporting, a club they have faced twice in recent Champions League campaigns. The Portuguese side reached this stage by navigating a challenging group phase and round of 16.

With Premier League title aspirations still alive and cup competitions offering realistic paths to silverware, April could prove decisive in determining the success of Arsenal’s season across multiple fronts.
