Arteta Provides Encouraging Update on Bukayo Saka

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has delivered a significant update on Bukayo Saka’s recovery, revealing that the winger is edging closer to a return to first-team action.

Saka has been sidelined since December with a serious hamstring injury sustained against Crystal Palace, but his rehabilitation appears to be progressing well.

The England international has been a key figure for the Gunners, and his absence has been felt during a crucial stage of the season.

Following surgery, he has watched from the sidelines as Arsenal’s title challenge has stuttered.

Adding to Arteta’s selection headaches, Gabriel Jesus has also been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, further limiting attacking options.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Arteta shared optimism over Saka’s recovery.

“He’s getting closer, he’s stepping up and making very good progress, I would say. So let’s see when we start to throw him in with the team, how he reacts and how fit he can get quickly,” the Spaniard explained.

Although Saka will not feature in Arsenal’s upcoming clash against Chelsea, his potential return in the coming weeks offers a timely lift for the team as they enter the final stretch of the season.

Ben White and Martinelli Return to Strengthen Squad

While Saka remains unavailable for now, Arteta has already welcomed two key players back into the squad.

Gabriel Martinelli and Ben White have both returned from injury, bolstering Arsenal’s depth in defence and attack.

White, who had been sidelined with a knee issue, has reintegrated into the team without any setbacks.

Arteta confirmed that the defender has trained for two weeks without complications, providing further reassurance about his fitness.

“He has been involved for the last two weeks almost and his knee is not reacting, so that is very positive,” Arteta said.

The 26-year-old’s return has also had implications beyond club football, as it was revealed on Friday that White is once again available for England selection.

Following discussions with new England manager Thomas Tuchel, White has opened the door to an international return, while promising youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly has received his first senior call-up.

Arsenal Look to Close the Gap in Title Race

Arsenal remain in pursuit of Premier League leaders Liverpool, though they currently trail Arne Slot’s side by 15 points.

The Gunners do have a game in hand, but they must capitalise on every opportunity to keep their hopes alive.

Their next challenge comes against Chelsea, where a win could apply some pressure on Liverpool, who will not be in league action as they compete in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.

With the squad gradually regaining its strength, Arsenal will be hoping that Saka’s eventual return can provide the spark needed to finish the season strongly.
