Champions League Winner Opens Door to Emirates Move

Leon Goretzka has given Arsenal fresh hope of securing his signature this summer after the Bayern Munich midfielder talked up the possibility of moving abroad when his contract expires.
The 31-year-old German international announced in January that this season would be his last at the Allianz Arena, making him available as a free agent when the transfer window opens.
Proven Winner Available
Since joining Bayern from Schalke in 2018, Goretzka has made 297 appearances and lifted 15 major trophies, including five Bundesliga titles and the 2019/20 Champions League. The midfielder’s vast experience at the highest level would bring immediate quality to Arsenal’s engine room.

According to reports from Germany, the Premier League leaders made a late enquiry for Goretzka during the winter window and are planning further discussions ahead of the summer. Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation closely.
Move Abroad Appeals
Speaking to Sky Deutschland about his decision to leave Bayern, Goretzka revealed his desire for a new challenge overseas.
“Maybe it’s the last chance I have to go abroad. I do want to play really competitive football again,” the Germany international explained.
When asked about his preferences for his next destination, Goretzka remained coy but suggested he wouldn’t be put off by England’s climate, joking: “Who doesn’t like the sun, right? But I certainly won’t make my next stop dependent on the weather.”
The 67-cap international added that he’s keeping his options open: “We’ll see what opportunities come up. I’m totally relaxed about it. I’ll just let it all come to me.”
Summer Overhaul Planned
Arsenal’s interest in Goretzka comes amid reports that the club is prepared to offload several first-team players to balance the books after spending £260million last summer on eight new signings including Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres.
The Daily Telegraph reported this week that Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White and even captain Martin Odegaard could be among those departing to make room for new additions.
For Arsenal, landing an experienced Champions League winner on a free transfer would represent excellent value in what promises to be another busy summer of squad reshaping at the Emirates.
