Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer, though the move would be incredibly difficult to execute.

According to The Independent, the Gunners are interested in the Georgian international as they look to strengthen their wide areas ahead of what promises to be a significant transfer window.

The 25-year-old would represent a transformative signing for Arsenal. Kvaratskhelia is coming into his prime years and has established himself as an elite dribbler and genuine difference maker in the final third.

His recent Champions League performances underline his quality. The winger scored seven goals and registered four assists across 11 European appearances this season, including three strikes against Chelsea in the last 16 that helped eliminate the Blues.

Financial position strong

Arsenal appear well-positioned financially to pursue elite targets this summer. Football finance expert Kieran Maguire recently told Standard Sport that the club has “no qualms whatsoever” when it comes to Financial Fair Play compliance.

“Arsenal have no qualms whatsoever when it comes to compliance with either UEFA’s Financial Fair Play or Squad Cost Ratio rules,” Maguire explained. “Their wages to revenue ratio is one of the lowest in the Premier League. They’re in a position to be very competitive this summer when the next transfer window opens.”

The club are understood to be open to first-team sales to fund improvements elsewhere, with Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly among those who could generate significant fees after struggling for minutes this season.

PSG stance remains firm

The major obstacle to any potential deal is PSG’s unwillingness to sell. The French champions view Kvaratskhelia as one of their key players and currently have no intention of entertaining offers for the winger.

Kvaratskhelia only joined PSG from Napoli in a £59million deal in January 2024, helping the club win the Champions League within six months of his arrival. His contract runs through to 2029, giving PSG significant leverage in any negotiations.

While reports suggest the player’s representatives would potentially consider a move to north London, PSG’s firm stance makes the transfer unlikely at this stage.

Left wing represents the area where Arsenal could most significantly upgrade their options. Neither Leandro Trossard nor Gabriel Martinelli have established themselves as consistent match-winners over the past three seasons, despite both showing glimpses of their quality.

Arsenal’s attack often flows down the right through Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Adding a player of Kvaratskhelia’s calibre on the opposite flank would prevent teams from doubling up on that side and provide the genuine difference maker the Gunners need to take the next step as a trophy-winning force.
