Arsenal Transfer Market Opportunities

Next week promises to be busy in the summer transfer window as clubs rush to finalize deals before the 2023-24 accounting deadline.

Several teams may need to offload star players by June 30 to balance their books and comply with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR).

Clubs such as Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, and Chelsea are reportedly at risk of breaching PSR, which could lead to significant transfer activity in the coming days.

Arsenal may see this as a chance to strengthen their squad, targeting players from these clubs.

Football.london reports that the Gunners are eager to sign several players this summer as they aim to challenge Manchester City for the title once more.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is considered an ideal signing this window by Arsenal, with Arteta being a big fan of the Swedish international.

However, negotiating a deal will be challenging, as the Magpies seem reluctant to part with the 24-year-old.

Discussing his future last month, Isak told Fotballskanalen: “I am very happy at Newcastle and had the best season of my career here. I love everything about the club: the fans, the city. Speculating about my future isn’t something I’m focused on; I have no thoughts on leaving. There’s been no indication from the club that I might be sold.”

According to The Telegraph, Eddie Howe’s side is close to signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

It remains to be seen if this will affect Isak’s future, but Arsenal might test Newcastle’s resolve with a strategic offer.

Another Newcastle player linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is Bruno Guimaraes.

The Gunners have been interested in Guimaraes for several years, dating back to his time at Lyon.

Football.london indicates that Arsenal’s top priority this summer is acquiring a central midfielder, and Guimaraes would complement Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice in a midfield trio.

However, his price tag could be a hurdle, with Newcastle likely demanding around £100 million to consider selling.

Everton’s financial troubles are well known, and Onana could be sold to raise much-needed funds.

The midfielder is currently playing for Belgium at Euro 2024, which could complicate negotiations, but Onana has previously expressed a desire to join a top club.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, Onana said: “In past tournaments, players who performed well often moved to top clubs.

That’s my goal too. I want to showcase my talents to the top teams in Europe. This European Championship is my platform.”

Conor Gallagher is entering the final year of his contract at Chelsea, and the midfielder has recently been linked with a move to Arteta’s squad.

Reports suggest Arsenal have inquired about his availability, with Aston Villa and Tottenham also monitoring the England international.

Chelsea value Gallagher, who made 50 appearances last season, at £42 million.

However, with his contract expiring in 2025, he might be available for slightly less. It remains uncertain if Chelsea would sell to a rival, but such a deal could benefit both clubs.
