Everton v Arsenal- Gunners face in form Toffees

Arsenal are currently on a winless streak of six games as they travel to Goodison Park in a bid to get back on the winner’s list.

Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with high flying Southampton was again a match that the Gunners threw away due to ill-discipline. Just as Arsenal were getting a foothold in the match and after captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang leveled for the hosts, new boy Gabriel perhaps had his worst game for the year as he was sent off with still half an hour remaining.

There were some positives although it was another game without a win and the pressure is still firmly on Mikel Arteta to turn things around for the North London side.

Everton had a fast start to the season, then had a dip in form, however that has been rectified with back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Leicester City, so the Toffees are in form.

Team news

Gabriel is out of the match at Goodison after his sending off in the second half against Southampton. Hector Bellerin is available again after serving his one-match ban for accumulating too many yellow cards while Thomas Partey is still out, and it is unclear when we will see the Ghanaian feature.

Granit Xhaka is serving the second match of his three-game ban after getting sent off against Burnley.

Gabriel Martinelli is still on the comeback trail after his knee injury and has returned to full training however the Everton clash will come too soon for the young Brazilian.

Mikel Arteta made a host of changes for the Southampton clash so expect to see a similar lineup except for Gabriel who is likely to be replaced by David Luiz.

The Brazilian who held the defence together well on Wednesday and his leadership will be critical to Arsenal’s chances of getting anything from the game.

Predicted XI: Leno, Bellerin, Luiz, Holding, Tierney, Elneny, Maitland Niles, Ceballos, Saka, Aubameyang, Pepe.

The Gunners stopped the rot however failed to register a win and a trip to face an Everton side high on confidence is not ideal. Mikel Arteta is going to have to get his side up for a tough game on Merseyside.

Prediction- Everton 1-1 Arsenal
