Henry reveals ‘most important trophy’ Arsenal must win this season

Thierry Henry has made his priorities clear for Arsenal’s potential quadruple-chasing season, insisting the Premier League title should take precedence over all other competitions.
The Gunners legend delivered a passionate defence of Mikel Arteta’s methods as the north London side sit top of the table following Max Dowman’s match-winning cameo against Everton and Manchester City’s dropped points at West Ham.
Arsenal resume their Champions League campaign against Bayer Leverkusen tonight with their last 16 tie evenly poised after a 1-1 first leg draw in Germany. The club also faces Manchester City in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, seeking to end a six-year trophy drought.

Premier League takes priority
Despite the historic possibility of an unprecedented quadruple, Henry believes securing a first Premier League crown in 22 years should be the ultimate objective – even above a maiden Champions League triumph.
“For me it’s winning the league. I know we have a game at the weekend and a final is a final. But if we win the league it’s a massive statement to what we can do after,”
Henry told Sky Sports.
The club’s all-time record goalscorer, who spearheaded the Invincibles’ undefeated 2003/04 campaign, acknowledged the current squad operates differently from his era’s swashbuckling style.
Arteta’s team has faced criticism for their reliance on set-pieces and more pragmatic approach, but Henry argues results are all that matter given the wait and investment made in building a title-challenging squad.
Backing Arteta’s evolution
Henry admitted he previously harboured doubts about whether Arteta could deliver success, but praised the manager’s ability to find solutions and learn on the job.
“Even my self did I doubt it at one point that we could win with Mikel. Yes, I did because the results were making me feel I don’t know if we can, if we could,”
he revealed.
“He did find a way. He had to learn on the job. Do you know how tough it is to arrive after someone like Emery, Arsene Wenger… He found a way, serious about everything, all the details.”
The Frenchman emphasised that claiming the Premier League would provide the foundation for sustained success, allowing Arsenal to “keep that core and build on it” for future campaigns.
With Arsenal maintaining their advantage at the summit and multiple trophy opportunities ahead, Henry’s message is clear – the league title would represent the most significant statement of intent after years of rebuilding under Arteta’s stewardship.
