Josh Kroenke flies in for Carabao Cup final as Arsenal hatch summer transfer plan

Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke has flown in from the United States ahead of this weekend’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City, with the American executive also set to hold crucial summer transfer talks while in London.

The Gunners face Pep Guardiola’s side at Wembley Stadium on Sunday as they look to end their lengthy wait for major silverware. Mikel Arteta’s team head into the showpiece fixture in excellent form, having knocked out Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League last-16 tie earlier this week.

According to BBC Sport, Kroenke has made the trip to London and is expected to be in attendance for the final. The report suggests there’s also a possibility that Stan Kroenke, founder of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment and Arsenal’s owner, could make an appearance if his schedule permits.

Transfer planning underway

While the immediate focus remains on Sunday’s cup final, Kroenke’s visit to London will serve a dual purpose. The co-chairman is reportedly scheduled to meet with Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta to discuss the club’s summer transfer strategy.

The club has already identified key areas for strengthening, with a new midfielder, left winger and full-back all on the wishlist for the upcoming window. Arsenal are said to be prepared to invest significantly in new signings as they look to build on what has been an impressive campaign.

The north London side remain in contention for an unprecedented quadruple this season, still competing in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and of course Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

Busy schedule ahead

The Carabao Cup final represents Arsenal’s last fixture before the March international break, with the Premier League taking a month-long hiatus. The Gunners will return to action on April 4 with an FA Cup quarter-final trip to Southampton.

Their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Sporting Lisbon follows just days later, before Premier League action resumes on April 11 with a home fixture against Bournemouth.

With Arsenal competing on multiple fronts and genuine silverware within touching distance, Kroenke’s presence at Wembley underlines the significance of Sunday’s final.
