Max Dowman’s family get Fifa agent licences to manage Arsenal teenager’s career

Max Dowman’s family has taken control of the Arsenal teenager’s career after his father and brother obtained Fifa agent licences to represent the 16-year-old winger.
The family has been flooded with approaches from agents since Dowman made his Arsenal debut as a 15-year-old last August, but they have decided against signing with a major talent agency. Instead, Rob Dowman and his elder son Ethan have both passed Fifa agent exams to handle Max’s representation themselves.

Last weekend, at 16 years and 73 days, Dowman became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history, further intensifying interest in his services. However, the family appears well-prepared to manage his burgeoning career.
Family credentials
According to The Guardian, Rob Dowman brings significant business experience as the founder and chief executive of insurance company Pantheon Speciality, while also working as a grassroots coach. His elder son Ethan works as a broker and holds an economics degree from Nottingham University.
Both successfully passed the Fifa agent exams introduced by the world governing body in 2003, which had a challenging 52% pass rate in the first round of entrants.
The trend of family members representing top players has grown since Fifa deregulated its agent licensing system a decade ago, but the Dowmans appear better qualified than most to handle the complexities of modern football representation.
Contract situation
Dowman signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal in January, which will automatically convert to his first professional contract when he turns 17 on December 31. The legal work on these deals was handled by sports law firm Onside Law, with Rob and Ethan Dowman now positioned to negotiate any future contracts.
Despite his rapid rise to prominence, the family is taking a measured approach to commercial opportunities. While Dowman has already signed a boot deal with Adidas and appeared in an advertisement alongside Arsenal legend Ian Wright, there is no rush to pursue additional commercial deals.
The teenager’s immediate focus remains on continuing his development at Arsenal while completing his GCSE examinations this summer. The family’s decision to handle his representation internally should provide stability and continuity as Dowman navigates the early stages of what promises to be a remarkable career at the highest level.
