Thierry Henry urges Arsenal to sign surprising striker

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has named a surprising pick for the striker he would like his former club to sign this summer.

After the Gunners failed to get their hands on silverware for the fifth year, the club’s hierarchy will be looking to show intent this summer.

While the signing of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi is approaching completion, Arsenal view the strengthening of the attacking department as a priority.

The North London club are keen to sign a left-winger to provide competition to Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and fans are also expecting a striker to arrive at The Emirates in the upcoming window.

The two highest on the striker shortlist are young RB Leipzig striker, Benjamin Šeško, and a more established forward in Viktor Gyökeres.

Mikel Arteta initially had his heart set on Newcastle United star, Alexander Isak, but that move is no longer viable.

In the last campaign, for the first time in over 100 years, no player at the club scored over ten league goals, and so Arsenal will be hoping for an Henry-esque signing.

The legend himself revealed which goalscorer he believes will take Arsenal to a title, while appearing on The Overlap: “One of my favourite nines out there at the minute is Julián Alvarez.”

The Argentine World Cup winner signed for Atlético Madrid from Manchester City last summer, for a fee in the region of €75million, and has already registered 36 goal involvements in 54 appearances.

Arsenal’s record goalscorer continued: “We’ve been talking about it – putting pressure, playing alone, low, whatever you want to do! He played at the Olympic Games, he played at the Copa América, I don’t hear him saying ‘I’m tired’.”

Tranfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, has confirmed that there is interest from the Premier League, but unfortunately for Henry and fellow admirers, the eleven-time LaLiga winners insist on retaining the 25 year-old.

However, the Gunners’ newly built connection with Atlético, through Andrea Berta, who spent 12 years in the capital, could prove beneficial should they choose to enter negotiations.
