10 Talking Points from Arsenal’s 1-0 Win vs Man City

Image

Finally, Arsenal beat Manchester City and today we didn’t learn just five things we learned a lot from this game. Gabriel Martinelli’s late winner sealed the deal for Arsenal in what was a very tight match.

1. Mikel Arteta’s Masterclass

Mikel Arteta exhibited a masterclass performance. His bold selection of Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, and Leandro Trossard in the front three, alongside Martin Ødegaard, Declan Rice, and Jorginho in the midfield, paid off brilliantly. His tactical brilliance was not limited to the lineup but extended to his substitutions, with Martinelli replacing Trossard, leading to the winning goal. Havertz and Partey also played their part in the buildup.

2. Michael Oliver 🚮

Michael Oliver’s refereeing performance was quite shocking. A second yellow for a certain player should have come in the 34th minute, but Oliver opted not to issue it. He was fortunate to avoid it.

3. Raya’s Shaky Start

David Raya displayed extreme nervousness, particularly during the initial stages of the match. Uncharacteristic mistakes, especially with his distribution, marked his play. However, as the game progressed, he gained more composure.

4. William Saliba’s Dominance Over Erling Haaland

Saliba demonstrated his command over Erling Haaland yet again. Haaland had no shots on target in this game, a testament to Saliba and his incredible defensive statistics.

& he can call him on speaker whenever he wants. Today William Saliba had an amazing performance and I don’t wanna take away from Gabriel Magalhães either because he had a fantastic performance, but they kept Erling Haaland to 0 shots in this game. If I mention some of the countless defensive stats that to leave I had today, they’re out of this world 100% ground to 100% aerial doors, 5 recoveries, two clearances. I don’t say this often, but I genuinely believe city, where is the best player in this team or has the highest potential.

5. Kai’s Impact

Kai Havertz not only secured the match-winning assist but also made a substantial impact after coming on. His ability to hold onto the ball and contribute in the attack was impressive.

6. Declan Rice‘s Outstanding Performance

Declan Rice showed he’s worth every bit of his £105 million valuation. His all-around performance left Manchester City regretting his absence. His impressive statistics speak for themselves.

7. Gabby Jesus’ Versatility

Gabriel Jesus seamlessly adapted to the right wing, where he felt right at home. Even when a striker arrives, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him play more on the wing.

8. Conquering the Champions

Arsenal accomplished a significant feat by defeating the reigning champions, Manchester City. This is a psychological milestone that could propel us to a league victory this season.

9. Jorginho’s Underrated Brilliance

Jorginho’s performance was nothing short of stupendous. Despite not being the first choice, he executed his role perfectly. He deserves credit for his performance, contributing to the team’s solidity.

10. Arsenal’s Unbeaten Streak

Despite not playing their best, Arsenal remains undefeated. Their exceptional defensive record makes them the best team in the league. It’s high time people realize that this team is here to stay, and their performance speaks volumes.

As we enter the international break, there’s plenty to discuss, including the remarkable victory over Man City and the upcoming clash with Chelsea. Enjoy the time off!
