Fabio Vieira has signaled his willingness to discuss a permanent departure from Arsenal after enjoying a productive loan spell at Hamburg in the Bundesliga.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder has caught the eye in Germany this season, scoring five goals and providing five assists across all competitions for HSV. His latest strike came on Saturday when he executed a brilliant lob for the opener against FC Koln, marking his fifth league goal of the campaign.

Vieira Hints at Summer Move

When asked about the possibility of making his Hamburg stay permanent, Vieira remained diplomatic but open to discussions. “Everyone knows I still have a contract with Arsenal. So let’s wait until the end of the season. Then we’ll talk about it and see what we can do,” he said after Saturday’s match.

The 25-year-old has clearly relished his time in German football, stating: “It was a great goal. I knew it was a big step for me to come here and rediscover my true potential.”

Arsenal initially signed Vieira from Porto but the playmaker has struggled to establish himself in north London. His current loan at Hamburg has provided him with regular first-team football and the opportunity to showcase his versatility across multiple positions including right wing, central midfield, attacking midfielder and even as a second striker.

Transfer Details and Arsenal’s Plans

Hamburg hold a buy-option clause worth £17.3 million that they can trigger to secure Vieira’s services permanently. However, according to Football London, the German side are hoping to negotiate below that figure while maintaining their interest in retaining the Portugal international.

Vieira is set to enter the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract this summer, with the Gunners reportedly keen to move the player on permanently. The midfielder joined Hamburg on deadline day alongside former Arsenal teammate Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Arsenal face several similar situations with other loanees this summer. Reiss Nelson has endured a difficult spell at Brentford with limited playing time, while Jakub Kiwior is expected to complete a permanent move to Porto following his loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.

The same arrangement applies to Piero Hincapie, who will join Arsenal permanently from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the current campaign after his successful loan spell.

Vieira’s Hamburg revival represents a positive outcome for all parties, giving the player regular football while potentially generating a significant fee for Arsenal ahead of their summer transfer plans.
