Adebayor Impressed by Arsenal’s Star Following Electrifying Derby Victory

Arsenal‘s 3-2 victory over Tottenham in the north London derby showcased their strength and character under Mikel Arteta‘s leadership.

Within the first half, Arsenal surged to a commanding 3-0 lead, courtesy of two goals from corners and a brilliant finish by Bukayo Saka.

Despite a late Tottenham rally, Arsenal’s resilience secured a crucial win, placing them firmly in the race for the Premier League title.

Adebayor’s Praise for Saka

Former Arsenal and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor lauded Bukayo Saka’s performance, labeling him as one of the best in Europe.

Adebayor criticized Tottenham’s defensive approach, particularly Ben Davies’ aggressive forward runs, which played into Arsenal’s hands.

He emphasized Saka’s quality and the need to contain him effectively to avoid his game-changing impact.

Saka vs. Davies

“A player like Saka on the side, you know what a different player he can be. Give him space and he can do whatever he wants to do,” said Adebayor.

“A player with his quality, if I am playing against him, I am telling the fullback to stay on him. Right now, he is on top of his game and playing his best football. But Davies is moving up front all the time. Davies isn’t going to be the one to score for Tottenham to win this game, so he has to stay in position, and have Bukayo Saka and that control. That’s what they aren’t doing and it’s going to make life so difficult for them. If you allow Saka to play with quality with one-v-one. We see how he makes that goal look so easy. Trust me, it’s not.”

Post-match comments: “Bukayo Saka today is one of the best wingers in the Premier League and maybe in Europe. You can’t give him that space. You knew how good he is and what he could bring to his team with Arsenal. Why do you allow him to have so much space to punish you?”
Tottenham’s disappointment was palpable as they succumbed to Arsenal for the second consecutive season at home.

Spurs’ Frustrations

Tim Sherwood noted defensive vulnerabilities, especially from set-pieces, and highlighted Arsenal’s successful targeting of Guglielmo Vicario, resulting in crucial goals.

Spurs’ inability to start strongly and address defensive lapses cost them dearly, leaving them with a bitter defeat ahead of their upcoming clash with Chelsea.
