Arsenal Agree Permanent Deal for Martin Ødegaard

Arsenal are allegedly close to signing Martin Ødegaard for a fee of around £34million, as reported by Fabrizio Romano for the Guardian.

Ødegaard is set to replace his six-month loan agreement with a longer five-year permanent deal. In his 20 appearances for Arsenal, he scored two goals and gave two assists.

While the 22-year old featured in Real Madrid’s pre-season line-up, he did not train with the first-team on Tuesday, in light of a possible transfer. With the deal close to being finalised, he may feature in Arsenal’s line-up against Chelsea this weekend. According to existing regulations, he will have to be registered before noon on Friday for this to happen.

During his time at Real Madrid, Ødegaard went on loan four times, the last of which was to the Emirates. Due to this, he has made nine more appearances for the Gunners than for Real Madrid.

Ødegaard has been a primary target for Arsenal this transfer window, especially now with Arsenal needing to focus on their midfield after the departure of Joe Willock.
