Arsenal are reportedly among a growing list of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Oliver Mansson, the 17 year old IFK Göteborg midfielder who has emerged as one of Sweden's most promising young talents this season.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal and Chelsea have been especially impressed by Mansson's performances, while Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Sunderland are also monitoring his progress. The report comes on the same day Arsenal travel to the City Ground to face Forest, two of the clubs credited with an interest in the youngster.

Who is Oliver Mansson?

Mansson made his senior debut for IFK Göteborg at just 16 and has since become a regular feature in the first team setup. Standing around six feet tall, he operates as a defensive midfielder and is known for combining physical presence with technical quality, composure on the ball and a strong range of passing.

His capacity to dictate play from deeper areas of midfield has reportedly drawn the attention of scouts from several Premier League clubs, with his breakthrough campaign in Swedish football putting him firmly on the radar.

Arsenal have previously shown an interest in tracking emerging talent from Swedish football, so this latest reported interest in Mansson fits an established pattern of scouting in that market.

Would Arsenal be able to land him?

There is no suggestion that a move is close, and Mansson remains focused on gaining further first team experience with IFK Göteborg. Competition for his signature also looks set to be fierce, given the number of clubs credited with interest.

Arsenal's track record of developing young players through the academy and into the senior squad could be a factor in any future pursuit. The progress of 16 year old Max Dowman, who has moved from the academy into Mikel Arteta's first team setup, has been cited as an example of the pathway on offer at the club.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Forest, Crystal Palace and Sunderland will all have their own plans regarding the teenager, and with his situation still at an early stage, any decision on his next move is likely to be some way off.

For now, Mansson remains a name to watch as he continues to build his reputation in Swedish football, with Arsenal just one of several English clubs keeping a close eye on his development.
