Arsenal Are Now Officially In Crisis

Arsenal’s season has gone from bad to worse after another loss at home, this time to Burnley 1-0 thanks to Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s own goal.

It was Arsenal’s fourth consecutive home loss and that is something that has not happened since 1959. It leaves the Gunners just five points off a relegation spot after their seventh defeat in ten games, during that spell Arsenal have no scored in six of those games as they now sit embarrassingly in 15th on the Premier League table.

It was built up as a must-win for Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side after a string of horrible performances and Burnley was seen as the perfect side for Arsenal to get back to winning ways.

However as we have seen numerous times when Arsenal desperately needed a result, they inadvertently self-destruct and that is exactly what happened on Sunday night.

After half-time, Arsenal was the dominant force in the match, controlling possession and looking the more threatening out of the two sides.

Then came the incident, Granit Xhaka who in reality should not have even been playing based on current form, grabbed Ashley Westwood around the neck. VAR intervened and the Swiss international was sent off, leaving his battling side with a tough task to come away with anything from the match.

So where does the blame fall? Squarely at the manager. As we have seen Mikel Arteta has seemed reluctant to make changes to his side. Granit Xhaka, Hector Bellerin, Willian, and Alexandre Lacazette have all severely underwhelmed, yet they still keep their starting positions.

Whereas Emile Smith Rowe who has everything Arsenal is currently lacking in the final third was an unused substitute, Florin Balogun was not even in the matchday squad after his goal and assist midweek in the Europa League. Then there is Ainsley Maitland Niles, who has done nothing but impressed when he has been given the chance and still can not get a starting birth.

The so-called senior players have been getting away with sub-par performances and the younger stars who have seriously impressed can not get a look in. Mikel Arteta must know something that the broader community does not because it seems odd that he continually selects under performing players.

It is hard to imagine that just four months ago, it all seemed rosy as Arsenal lifted the FA Cup, fast forward to now and they are potentially facing a relegation battle. Although it is impossible to think they could go down, it is the position they find themselves in.

Changes must be made for the Southampton clash with Arteta’s position now in serious jeopardy if it is not already.

Arsenal are currently a club in crisis and is Mikel Arteta the man to get them out of it? And if not who would want the job of turning it around?

Mikel Arteta has stated the need for reinforcements in the January window, however, if results do not improve, then he may not be at the helm when January comes around.

Arsenal is a club now that is at an all-time low and it is hard to see just how they are going to turn this around.

Why can’t they use Özil? He is a well paid player who proberbly had his prime but in this situation I think it is waste of money and competense to let him have Arsenal as a ‘gym’.
I agree that everybody has to preform on their very best. That is why they have those paychecks… I think their mental coaching must be sharpen up. The mental support to each player must be on top in this situation. Are that support really doing the job? They must start to belive in themselves. If they cant do the little things right, they will never be able to do the game right.

I really want them to preform on top again. They can do it but they don´t know it themselves. :/
