Arsenal have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi this summer, with transfer discussions already well underway according to reports from Germany.

The 21-year-old has caught the attention of Europe’s elite after an impressive debut season in Belgium, scoring 13 goals and providing two assists in 30 league appearances since his £6million move from Hannover 96 last summer.

Arsenal lead the race for rising star

According to German newspaper Bild, Arsenal have placed the centre-forward ‘on their shortlist’ as clubs across the continent show ‘great interest’ in the Germany Under-21 international.

Bild’s Head of Football Christian Falk provided further detail, claiming the Gunners have established themselves as the ‘favourites’ to secure Tresoldi’s signature, with the club ‘seriously interested’ in bringing him to the Emirates as they look to further strengthen their attacking options.

The north London side moved aggressively in the transfer market last summer, adding Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke for a combined fee of around £165million to bolster their frontline.

International future remains uncertain

Born in Italy to an Italian father and Argentinian mother, Tresoldi has represented Germany at youth level, earning 12 goals in 23 appearances for the Under-21 team. However, his international future remains uncertain.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann has hinted that Tresoldi could be included in the squad for this year’s World Cup, stating there are ‘many players in the mix who could make the squad’ including the young striker.

Yet the Argentinian Football Association have reportedly contacted Tresoldi’s representatives to gauge his interest in switching allegiance, adding another layer of complexity to his situation.

The striker has previously expressed his dream of playing for AC Milan, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport: ‘Milan is a dream that pushes me to work every day. The dream of playing for Milan is inside my head, and I think about it every morning when I wake up.’

With Tresoldi contracted to Club Brugge until June 2029, any potential suitor would need to negotiate a significant fee to secure his services. His rapid rise in Belgian football has established him as one of the most exciting young talents in European football, making him an attractive proposition for Arsenal as they continue building for the future.
