The 20-year-old Slovenian has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, but it is Arsenal who are currently in ‘pole position’ to secure his signature.

Sesko’s Impressive Form

Since joining Leipzig from RB Salzburg last July for €24 million, Sesko has been in superb form, especially since the turn of the year.

Initially netting just three goals in the first half of the Bundesliga campaign, he has dramatically improved, scoring 10 goals in his last 15 league appearances.

His consistent performance has seen him score in each of his last six Bundesliga matches, contributing to Leipzig’s unbeaten run in 10 games.

Overall, Sesko has tallied 17 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig.

His prowess extends to the international stage as well, with 11 goals in 27 caps for Slovenia.

Standing at 6ft 5in, the young centre-forward is one of the most promising talents in European football, and Leipzig are set to make a significant profit on their €24 million investment.

Arsenal’s Striking Options

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has identified a new striker as a top priority for the summer transfer window.

The club’s interest in Sesko aligns with this strategy, and the Gunners are reportedly considering a move for the Slovenian forward.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal have shown ‘strong interest’ in Sesko and are deemed to be in the strongest position to sign him.

Kai Havertz’s form in the striker role has reduced the immediate pressure on Arteta to find a new forward.

However, the addition of a young but ready-to-contribute player like Sesko could be ideal for Arsenal.

Drawing parallels with Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund, it is clear that young strikers can face immense pressure at big Premier League clubs.

Therefore, Arteta is likely looking for a player who can grow into the role without being the sole focus of the attack from the outset.

Transfer Priorities and Potential Sales

Reports indicate that Benjamin Sesko’s initial release clause was £43 million, but his recent performances might have increased this figure to £64 million.

Arsenal’s transfer plans also mention other potential striker options, such as Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres.

Additionally, Arsenal are expected to spend £30 million to make David Raya’s signing permanent, highlighting the need for player sales to balance the books.

Possible departures include Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, Kieran Tierney, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Reiss Nelson.

Sesko’s agent, Elvis Basanovic, was spotted at Old Trafford during Arsenal’s recent 1-0 victory over Manchester United, fuelling speculation about the striker’s potential move.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s pursuit of Sesko could be a defining moment in their bid to strengthen their attacking options and compete at the highest level.
