Arsenal reportedly set £60m asking price for misfiring forward

Arsenal have reportedly placed a £60 million valuation on Viktor Gyokeres, with the club willing to sanction a departure in the next transfer window if that figure is met.
That is according to TeamTalk, who report the Gunners would not stand in the Swede's way should a suitable offer arrive — a fee that would allow Arsenal to recoup what they invested when they signed him in the summer of 2025.

Havertz has moved ahead in the pecking order
The context behind the valuation is a season that has not gone to plan for the striker. Kai Havertz has displaced Gyokeres since the start of the campaign and now appears to be the preferred option through the middle, with the German seen as the better fit for how Mikel Arteta's side want to attack.
That has left Gyokeres with limited minutes to build any rhythm. The frustration for Arsenal is that the raw quality is not in question — his form for Sweden during the international break was another reminder of what he can do in a system built to suit him.
Per the same report, Arsenal view Gyokeres as one of the leading players at the club whose qualities have not been fully suited to their approach. The club have not given up on him, but they appear prepared to listen if their price is matched.
An opening may be about to arrive
With Havertz injured, Gyokeres is in line for an extended run in the side — the clearest opportunity he has had to make the centre-forward position his own since arriving in north London.
The timing matters. On current form, it is difficult to see a club meeting a £60 million valuation for a striker who has struggled for consistency in England, which means the next few weeks could shape the conversation in both directions. A sustained run of goals would strengthen his case at the Emirates and, equally, would restore the market value Arsenal have attached to him.
It is also worth noting the source here. TeamTalk are not in the tier of Ornstein or Romano when it comes to Arsenal transfer reporting, so the specific £60 million figure should be treated as an indication of the club's thinking rather than a settled position.
What is not in dispute is the on-pitch situation. Gyokeres arrived as a heavy investment and a statement of intent, and he has not yet produced the output that signing implied. Arsenal spent big precisely because they believed he could be the focal point of the attack, and a sale at cost price would represent a swift reassessment of that bet.
For now, the striker's immediate task is a straightforward one. With Havertz unavailable and the forward line short of options, the stage is set for Gyokeres to answer the questions on the pitch before any decision is made off it.
