Arsenal Turns Down Transfer Proposal from Brazilian Giants

Brazilian club Palmeiras recently attempted to bring back Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, but the Premier League side swiftly turned down their proposal.
Jesus, who started his career with Palmeiras, has had a challenging season at Arsenal, sparking interest from his former team.
However, Arsenal remains committed to the forward, despite his struggles with form and fitness.

Palmeiras’ Attempt to Reclaim Jesus Denied
Palmeiras club president Leila Pereira confirmed that the Brazilian club made a formal approach for Jesus, but Arsenal made it clear that a transfer was not on the table.
“Gabriel Jesus is not coming,” Pereira told ESPN.
“We got in touch with Arsenal, and they said, ‘Leila, there are no conditions whatsoever. We are not going to negotiate the player.’ The subject is closed.”
Jesus rose through the ranks at Palmeiras, making his professional debut in 2015, before moving to Manchester City in 2017, where he won four Premier League titles.
He joined Arsenal in 2022 with high expectations and had a strong first season.
However, his form has since dwindled, with just eight goals in all competitions last season and a slow start this campaign.
Arteta Backs Jesus but Emphasises the Need to ‘Earn the Right’
Despite the disappointing spell, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed faith in Jesus, citing the forward’s pre-season performance and recent injury as reasons for his struggles.
“He was flying in pre-season and unfortunately got that injury straight away that affected him for a few weeks,” Arteta explained.
The manager acknowledged that Jesus has been working hard to regain his rhythm and noted that he had started recent games against Atalanta and Bolton, as well as making a substitute appearance against Southampton.
Arteta is confident in Jesus’ value to the squad, praising his versatility and potential to contribute in various positions.
“He’s got our full support,” Arteta said, adding that Jesus must “earn the right” to secure his place in the starting line-up as he continues to rebuild his form.
Arteta’s comments reflect his belief that Jesus can return to his best, but that he will need to prove himself on the pitch to do so.
Arsenal’s Struggles with Goalscoring and the Road Ahead
While Jesus has faced difficulties, Arsenal’s attack as a whole has been less than prolific this season.
Kai Havertz, deployed as the primary forward by Arteta, currently leads the squad with six goals across all competitions.
Bukayo Saka follows with four, while no other player has managed more than two goals.
This lack of a consistent goalscoring presence highlights the importance of having Jesus return to form, particularly as the season progresses and Arsenal strive to maintain their competitiveness.
Jesus will have another opportunity to showcase his abilities when Arsenal face Preston North End in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
With Arteta’s backing and a chance to prove himself in upcoming fixtures, Jesus will aim to rediscover his scoring touch and reinforce his place within the team.
Arsenal’s rejection of Palmeiras’ bid demonstrates their ongoing faith in the Brazilian forward, who will be crucial to their aspirations this season.
