Arsenal Women make two changes in Paris as defender misses out

Arsenal Women have made just two changes for tonight's Women's Champions League trip to Paris FC, with Steph Catley absent through injury and Misa restored between the posts.

The Australian left-back drops out of the side that started Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Chelsea, with Lotte Wubben-Moy coming into the back line. Catley is unavailable due to injury, according to Arseblog.

The other alteration comes in goal, where Misa replaces Anneke Borbe. Borbe drops to the bench for the European tie.

How Arsenal line up

Misa starts behind a back four of Emily Fox, Leah Williamson, Wubben-Moy and Ona Batlle. That means Wubben-Moy slots in alongside Williamson at centre-back, with Batlle shifting across to cover the left side in Catley's absence.

The midfield three is unchanged from Stamford Bridge: Kim Little captains the side alongside Georgia Stanway and Kyra Cooney-Cross.

Up front, Alessia Russo leads the line with Frida Maanum's compatriot-free flanks occupied by Baum and Mariona Caldentey either side of her.

Renee Slegers has plenty of attacking options in reserve, with Caitlin Foord, Chloe Kelly's fellow wide threats and a bench that reads: 9.Foord, 11.Smith, 12.L.Maanum, 14.Reuteler, 24.Hinds, 25.Blackstenius, 28.Borbe, 29.Cerci, 31.Holmberg.

Slegers backing her forwards

The trip to the French capital comes off the back of a 1-0 loss at Chelsea, a result that extended questions about Arsenal's output in the final third. Slegers addressed those concerns in the build-up, saying: "We know that it will come."

Stina Blackstenius and Foord both offer the manager a route to change the shape of the game from the bench, while Laia Cerci and Lia Wubben-Moy's defensive partner options give Slegers flexibility should Arsenal need to protect a lead late on.

Keeping largely the same personnel suggests Slegers sees no need for wholesale surgery after the Chelsea reverse, with Catley's injury forcing the only outfield alteration.

Paris FC represent a different test to the domestic grind, and Arsenal's Champions League campaign offers an immediate opportunity to reset. Kick-off in Paris will tell us plenty about whether the goals Slegers is waiting on are close to arriving.
