Arsenal’s Delay in Pursuing £55m Star ‘Surprising’

Arsenal’s Striker Search in the Transfer Window Raises Eyebrows

Arsenal’s lack of movement for a new striker in the current transfer window is raising eyebrows, particularly their absence of action regarding RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign RB Leipzig’s highly-rated striker Benjamin Sesko in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign RB Leipzig’s highly-rated striker Benjamin Sesko in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Dean Jones, speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, expressed his surprise at Arsenal’s inactivity, describing it as a missed “very good opportunity.”

The Gunners, who narrowly missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City by just two points, were seen as being only a prolific number nine away from securing the trophy

The failure to secure a new striker could hinder their chances of clinching the title in the upcoming season.

Sesko’s Impressive Form

Benjamin Sesko has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time.

The young striker joined RB Leipzig for £20 million last summer and has enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Bundesliga, scoring 18 goals.

At just 20 years old, Sesko’s potential is evident, and his £55 million release clause is seen as strong value for a player of his calibre.

The Telegraph reports that Arsenal have a strong interest in Sesko, with rival clubs believing the Gunners are in pole position if they decide to make a bid.

Despite this, Dean Jones does not believe a bid is imminent.

Sesko’s 14 goals in 31 Bundesliga games highlight his talent and potential to become a key player for Arsenal.

Dean Jones: Arsenal’s Lack of Movement “Slightly Surprising”

Dean Jones finds it perplexing that Arsenal haven’t made any significant moves for Sesko.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said, “I do not get the sense Arsenal are on the verge of any offer and that is slightly surprising because I know they see this as a very good market opportunity.

You look at the room for growth he still has and think he really might be ideal for Mikel Arteta.

Nothing is on the cards with it at the moment though, and to be honest, I’m not sure Arsenal have clearly identified how they will give their attack that new edge they need for next season.

I’m not ruling out this signing, but I don’t think it is one that seems to be progressing right now.”

The Striker Conundrum

Arsenal’s need for a new striker is evident.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah managed just four and five goals respectively last season, which was not enough to keep pace with Manchester City’s prolific attack.

The Gunners have been linked with other forwards, including Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney, and Santiago Gimenez.

Each comes with their own set of advantages and challenges.

Osimhen, with 67 league goals for Napoli in just 105 games, would command a high transfer fee.

Toney has Premier League experience but hasn’t scored since February. Gimenez lacks experience in top European competition.

In contrast, Sesko offers youth, potential, and a more affordable fee, making him an intriguing option that could boost Arsenal’s title ambitions.
