Arsenal are now close to signing a major talent following an accepted bid.
Arsenal Secure Riccardo Calafiori
Tutto Mercato Web reports that Arsenal’s bid for Riccardo Calafiori has been accepted by Bologna.
Initially, Bologna rejected a €47m (£40m) offer, but after Arsenal increased their bid by €3m (£2m) to €50m (£42m), the Serie A side agreed to the deal.
Additionally, Arsenal have reached personal terms with Calafiori, who is eager to join Arteta’s project.
Arsenal successfully outbid PSG, Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen, and Juventus for the Italy international’s signature.
Calafiori shone at Euro 2024, drawing comparisons to legendary defender Franco Baresi and, for a contemporary reference, John Stones.
The 22-year-old’s performance was a highlight, even though Italy was unexpectedly eliminated by Switzerland.
Gunners Strengthen Defense with “One of the Best in the World”
Despite having the best defensive record in the Premier League last season, some Arsenal fans might question the need for another defender.
Arsenal kept 18 clean sheets and conceded just 29 goals, but Calafiori’s signing is significant.
At just 22, Calafiori has been hailed as “one of the best in the world” by Fabrizio Romano.
He is a modern defender with seven goal involvements in 30 Serie A appearances last season and played a crucial role in Bologna’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal fans should stay tuned, as an official announcement regarding Calafiori’s signing could be imminent.
