Arsenal's hunt for January reinforcements up front has hit another snag. Club Brugge have decided they will not sell striker Nicolo Tresoldi this winter, regardless of the size of any offer that comes in, according to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad.

It comes shortly after Atletico Madrid made clear that Julian Alvarez will not be leaving the Spanish capital before the end of the season, another forward option seemingly taken off the table for Mikel Arteta's side in the coming months.

Arsenal had been credited with interest in the 22 year old, who has emerged as one of the most coveted young strikers in Europe. The north London club have previous dealings with Brugge, having signed Christos Tzolis from the Juniper League side over the summer, and were reportedly weighing up a similar move for Tresoldi.

No price will change Brugge's mind

Het Nieuwsblad reports that Tresoldi is becoming 'increasingly difficult to keep' for Brugge, but insists even a 'massive' or 'astronomical' bid will not be enough to prise him away in January. The Belgian champions are said to be unwilling to even entertain offers for the forward this winter, despite interest from a lengthy list of elite clubs including Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

That stance is reportedly set to soften somewhat once the season concludes, with Brugge understood to have no desire to stand in the way of Tresoldi's career long term.

The striker, who is under contract until June 2029, has been in prolific form this season. He has scored seven goals in nine appearances for Brugge, including a hat trick in Saturday's 3-2 win over Sint-Truidense.

Leko hails forward's dedication

Brugge head coach Ivan Leko spoke glowingly of Tresoldi's attitude and importance to the club's plans this season.
