Five more Arsenal deals set to follow Arteta contract breakthrough

Mikel Arteta's new Arsenal contract is not the only agreement being worked on behind the scenes at London Colney.

The Spaniard's current deal expires at the end of this season, and it has been widely reported that he will commit to a long-term extension that keeps him in charge until at least 2029. According to The Athletic, Arteta's backroom staff are now also in the process of renewing their own deals following last season's Premier League title win.

The five names in line for new deals

Arteta has built a settled coaching group during his time in north London, and the quintet reportedly on course for fresh terms is a familiar one.

It includes assistant managers Albert Stuivenberg and Gabriel Heinze, first-team coach Miguel Molina, goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana and set-piece specialist Nicolas Jover — the latter having become one of the most talked-about members of any coaching staff in the Premier League.

Aligning that many contracts at once is not a simple administrative exercise, something Arteta acknowledged when he signed his previous extension in September 2024.

"We all tried to do it at the same time," he said at the time. "It is difficult because four or five people committing at the same time is not easy to do."

He added: "I am so happy with them and I value them at the highest level. I want to continue together so hopefully it will be resolved very soon."

Announcement could come during the international break

An announcement on Arteta's own deal could arrive during the extended autumn international break, with the manager playing down any suggestion of a hold-up when asked about his future last week.

"I think we are all very much aligned; whenever the time is right, we'll get that done," he said. "There is nothing to be concerned about."

Arteta continued: "I don't know if the timing will be the same or different, I think we both have the same ambition and the same will, so whenever we have time we'll get that resolved."

The context is straightforward enough. Arteta arrived in December 2019 with the club drifting outside the European places, delivered an FA Cup in his first half-season, rebuilt the squad around a young core and then ended Arsenal's long wait for a league title last season. Retaining the staff who worked alongside him through that period has become as much a part of the planning as the manager's own signature.

Jover's work on set-pieces in particular has drawn interest from elsewhere in the game, while Stuivenberg and Heinze have been central to the day-to-day coaching structure. Tying all six — Arteta plus the five — to new terms would give Arsenal continuity across the entire technical setup heading into the rest of the campaign.

For now, the paperwork is the only thing outstanding. Confirmation is expected once the club and staff find the right window to finalise everything together.
