Folarin Balogun Seals Permanent Move to AS Monaco

Folarin Balogun, the 22-year-old forward, has officially joined Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, marking a new chapter in his football journey. Balogun’s roots with Arsenal trace back to his entry into the club’s Academy at the age of ten. His progression through the ranks culminated in him signing his first professional contract with the club in February 2019.

According to Ryan Taylor, Arsenal have negotiated a 17.5% sell-on clause in the deal.

Balogun’s gradual rise saw him make his senior debut for Arsenal in October 2020, as he appeared as a substitute during a 3-0 victory against Dundalk in the UEFA Europa League. He then claimed his first senior goal for Arsenal in a match against Molde, underlining his contributions to the team.

Further extending his football journey, Balogun embarked on his second loan spell in 2 seasons, joining Ligue 1 outfit Stade de Reims. His time there proved fruitful, as he established himself as one of the top scorers in the league, finishing joint fourth in Ligue 1’s goal-scoring charts with 21 goals from 37 appearances.

Balogun’s notable journey took a distinctive turn when he declared his allegiance to the US men’s national team in May 2023. He made his mark during the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League, contributing to the USA’s victory over Mexico in the final.

The transfer includes an impressive €40 million package along with a sell-on clause, as per reputable source Fabrizio Romano.
