Galatasaray push to beat Arsenal to Real Madrid midfielder

Arsenal's long-running pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga could face fresh competition in January, with Galatasaray reportedly attempting to move ahead of the Gunners for the Real Madrid midfielder.

Camavinga was one of the names Arsenal explored in the last transfer window, and the north London side have tracked the France international for several seasons. Real Madrid's reluctance to sanction a departure is what prevented any agreement from being reached.

That stance now appears to be softening. According to Fichajes, Madrid could be open to letting the midfielder leave in January, with Galatasaray already pushing to bring him to Istanbul during that window.

Galatasaray look to move first

The report claims Galatasaray are fully aware that several clubs would be interested if Camavinga becomes available, Arsenal among them, and that the Turkish champions are trying to act before the Gunners make a serious approach.

It is worth noting that Fichajes are not a tier one outlet, and their transfer reporting should be treated with caution compared to the likes of David Ornstein or Fabrizio Romano. The broader picture of Arsenal's admiration for Camavinga, however, is not new — the club have been credited with interest in him repeatedly over recent seasons.

Any deal would still hinge on two things: Real Madrid genuinely being willing to let him go, and Arsenal deciding that the profile remains a priority for the squad. Neither is guaranteed.

Why the profile fits

Camavinga's appeal has always been his versatility. He has operated as a deep-lying midfielder, a left-sided eight and even at left-back for Madrid, giving any manager multiple ways to use him across a congested calendar.

His ability to carry the ball out of pressure and cover ground defensively is the kind of skill set that translates well to the Premier League, and Arsenal have consistently valued players who can fill more than one role.

The complication is cost and competition. Real Madrid rarely sell players of Camavinga's standing cheaply, and if the door does open in January, Galatasaray will not be the only club circling. Mid-season deals for players of that calibre are also historically difficult to complete.

For now, the 23-year-old remains a Real Madrid player, and there has been nothing official from either club to suggest a January exit is being lined up.

What is clear is that Arsenal will have a decision to make if the situation develops. The club have followed Camavinga for years and know exactly what he offers, but interest and action are two different things — and Galatasaray are reportedly trying to close that gap before anyone else does.

The January window will determine whether this becomes a genuine race or simply another chapter in a transfer story that has never quite got off the ground.
