Calafiori’s outstanding form over the last year has not only helped Bologna secure a spot in the Champions League but also established him as one of Italy’s most reliable players during the tournament.

Bologna Encourages Arsenal to Bid for Calafiori

With the Azzurri now out of Euro 2024, Calafiori is set to decide his future.

Although he has agreed to join Juventus, Bologna is committed to selling him to the highest bidder.

A report in FourFourTwo reveals that Bologna is encouraging bids from all suitors, including Arsenal, in hopes of securing a substantial fee.

Juventus is expected to compete fiercely for Calafiori, but the Old Lady may struggle to match the financial power of Arsenal.

Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, and manager, Mikel Arteta, are keen on strengthening the squad, particularly the central defense, to mount a serious Premier League title challenge against Manchester City next season.

While Edu is also targeting a new striker and a potential midfield replacement for Thomas Partey, bolstering the central defense remains a primary focus.

Calafiori, 22, has been highly praised for his performances, including a standout game against Albania in the Euros.

World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta lauded Calafiori, saying, “He played an extraordinary game, like the whole team in the first 60 minutes. He played with personality, without fear, perhaps the only flaw was on the long ball where we took a risk with Donnarumma’s exit. But he showed some beautiful things.”

Calafiori’s impressive displays have significantly increased his market value, with a rumored price tag of around £42 million.

Arsenal views Calafiori as an ideal replacement for Kiwior and believes they can outbid Juventus, who hope to leverage Calafiori’s preference to stay in Italy.

Last season, Calafiori was a key player under Thiago Motta at Bologna, making 30 Serie A appearances and contributing two goals and five assists.

His fine form has made him a highly sought-after player in the current transfer market.
