Julian Alvarez has parted ways with his long-serving agent, a move that could have implications for his future amid continued Arsenal interest in the Atletico Madrid forward.

According to Fichajes, Alvarez has dismissed his representative following a failed attempt over the summer to engineer a move to Barcelona. Atletico blocked that switch, and the Argentina international has reportedly been searching for a new path forward ever since.

Arsenal held off, Alvarez stayed put

Arsenal made efforts during the summer window to sign the World Cup winner, offering him a route back to the Premier League, where he previously starred for Manchester City. Alvarez, however, had his heart set on Barcelona, and when that deal collapsed, he chose to remain at Atletico rather than consider a move to north London.

It has not been the smoothest start to the campaign for the forward since that saga, and his long-term future at the club now appears less settled than it did before the summer.

New agent search underway

Per the same report, Alvarez's father is said to be leading the search for new representation, with former Paris Saint-Germain and Roma midfielder Javier Pastore mentioned as a potential candidate to take over managing his career.

The change in representation comes directly off the back of the breakdown in trust following the failed Barcelona pursuit, and it could open the door for other suitors, including Arsenal, to make their case through fresh channels.

Could Arsenal benefit?

Arsenal are said to retain their interest in Alvarez and continue to monitor Atletico's resolve regarding a potential sale. The forward has previously made clear that Barcelona remained his preferred destination, but a new agent could, in theory, present different options and shift his thinking toward a return to England.

Atletico would reportedly be open to listening to the right offer, though Alvarez remains contracted at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2030, meaning any deal would hinge on both the Spanish club's valuation and the player's own willingness to reconsider his priorities.

For now, Alvarez remains an Atletico player, and nothing concrete links him to an imminent departure. But with a new representative potentially shaping his next career move, Arsenal will be watching closely to see whether an opportunity to revisit their interest in the Argentine eventually presents itself.
