Arsenal have reportedly added Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán to their transfer wishlist for the upcoming January transfer window.

The Colombian forward, who has impressed in his debut season in the Premier League, is attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, including Barcelona.

However, the Gunners may have a more straightforward path to secure his signature.

Impressive Start to the Season

Jhon Durán has quickly made a name for himself since joining Aston Villa, scoring six goals so far this season.

His performance, which includes a crucial winner against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, has drawn attention from major clubs across Europe.

Aston Villa, under manager Unai Emery, have recognised the 20-year-old’s potential, rewarding him with a new contract earlier this month that ties him to the club until 2030.

Despite this long-term deal, Durán’s impressive form has caught the eye of Arsenal.

According to reports from AS in Colombia, Arsenal have expressed a strong interest in signing the forward when the winter transfer window opens in January.

Arsenal and Barcelona Lead the Chase

Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of Durán.

Barcelona have also been linked with the young striker, with both clubs emerging as the two biggest names in the race to secure his services.

However, Barcelona’s financial constraints could make it difficult for them to meet Aston Villa’s asking price.

Aston Villa are reportedly demanding no less than €90 million for Durán, a significant fee for a player with only a few months of Premier League experience.

While Barcelona are unlikely to meet this price due to their ongoing financial difficulties, Arsenal could take advantage of this situation if they are willing to meet the Midlands club’s valuation.

Arsenal’s Striker Hunt

For Arsenal, the pursuit of Durán is part of a broader effort to strengthen their attacking options.

Manager Mikel Arteta is looking to add more firepower to his squad as the Gunners aim to compete on multiple fronts this season.

With Gabriel Jesus as the club’s main striker, and Eddie Nketiah offering support, Durán could provide another dynamic option to bolster Arsenal’s frontline.

Should Arsenal succeed in convincing both Aston Villa and Durán to make the move to north London, they would add a player with significant potential to their ranks.

Durán’s physicality, pace, and finishing ability could make him a valuable asset for Arteta as the team looks to build on their positive start to the campaign.

As the January transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s pursuit of Durán will be one to watch closely.

While they face competition from Barcelona, the Gunners’ willingness to meet Villa’s valuation could give them the upper hand in what could be one of the biggest moves of the winter market.
