Arsenal will not have to deal with one of Bayern Munich's most dangerous attackers when the two sides meet in the Champions League next week, after Michael Olise picked up a straight red card in midweek European action.
Arsenal were in action on Tuesday evening at the Emirates Stadium, brushing aside Lille 3-0 thanks to goals from Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka. The win moved Mikel Arteta's side up to third in the Champions League standings.

Bayern, meanwhile, had a far more chaotic night away to Viking in Norway. Vincent Kompany's side fell behind inside two minutes through Gianni Stensness, before Peter Christiansen doubled the hosts' advantage before half time. Harry Kane then struck twice and Luis Diaz added another to put Bayern 3-2 ahead, only for Herman Haughen to snatch a 3-3 draw for Viking late on.
Olise sees red in frustration
The result was bad enough for Bayern, but matters got worse around 15 minutes from time when Olise was dismissed. The winger was first booked for pulling back Henrik Heggenheim after losing possession. As he picked up the ball to hand it over following his caution, Olise threw it into the face of Viking captain Zlatko Tripic.
The incident sparked a confrontation, with Kristoffer Askildsen and Henrik Falchener among those who squared up to Olise before referee Georgi Kabakov intervened. After consulting the officials, Kabakov showed Olise a second yellow card, and with it a red, for the ball throwing incident.
It marks the first red card of Olise's career to date. The Frenchman has been in excellent form for Bayern this season, contributing two Champions League goals and an assist as well as four goals and two assists in the Bundesliga under Kompany.
Arsenal travel to Munich without Olise threat
As a result of the red card, Olise will now serve a one match suspension, ruling him out of Bayern's Champions League meeting with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, October 21, as reported by football.london.
Arsenal's own preparations continue in the meantime, with Premier League business first on the agenda. Arteta's side travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday, October 18, before shifting focus to Bayern later that week.
