Preview- Tottenham v Arsenal- Team news and predicted line-up

Tottenham will host Mikel Arteta’s struggling Arsenal side on Sunday in another installment of the North London derby.

Spurs are flying high in the league this season, currently sitting top of the pile with 21pts and only one loss while Arsenal is languishing down in 14th after some horrible displays at home.

As with any derby, form goes out the window when Spurs play Arsenal and Mikel Arteta will hope that trend continues Sunday.

Team news

Spurs captain Harry Kane will need to pass a fitness check before being deemed fit to start, however, it is widely expected the Englishman will start.

Hugo Lloris is also a doubt with Joe Hart on standby if the Frenchman is not passed fit.

Erik Lamela (Achilles) is out with Carlos Vinicius, Sergio Reguilon, and Toby Alderweireld all being assessed ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

For Arsenal, Mikel Arteta will be sweating over the fitness of Thomas Partey after the Ghanaian hoped he would be able to train with the first team this week. Partey has missed the Gunners’ last four games and would be a welcomed sight in Arsenal’s midfield.

After Arsenal’s win over Rapid Vienna Mikel Arteta was asked about the possibility of Thomas Parrtey playing a part on Sunday.

“Well, he’s putting a lot of pressure on us,”

“He’s training tomorrow with us and let’s see how it goes in the next couple of days.”

Partey trained with the Arsenal squad on Friday in what would be a massive boost for the Gunners.

David Luiz is also a doubt after his nasty head clash with Raul Jimenez of Wolves last time in the Premier League.

Nicolas Pepe is still serving his three-match ban while exciting youngster Gabriel Martinelli is still recovering from his knee injury, however, it is expected that he will feature for the U/23’s before the year ends.

Scoring goals has been a problem for Arsenal in the league this season, aside from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty against Manchester United and Gabriel’s header against Wolves, the Gunners have not found the net in their last six games.

After Spur’s 3-3 draw with West Ham, Tottenham have only conceded once in five games and have kept clean sheets against both Chelsea and Manchester City.

Tottenham goes into this one favourite as many expect them to continue their winning ways over Arsenal. However, Mikel Arteta has shown that in big games he can shut down the opposition, which will be needed against Spurs.

Everything points to a Spurs win however Arsenal will be quietly confident after their trouncing of Rapid Vienna midweek and with the looming return of Thomas Partey, the Gunners could very well spring a surprise.

Predicted line up: Leno, Bellerin, Gabriel, Holding, Tierney, Xhaka, Ceballos, Lacazette, Saka, Aubameyang, Nelson.

It is going to be an uphill battle for Arsenal, playing away and in front of 2000 Spurs fans, they will be well and truly up against it.

However if they able to snatch a positive result on Sunday it could be just the tonic to kick start their Premier League campaign.

Another cracking installment of the North London Derby awaits.
