An Arsenal player, who spent the 2023/24 season out on loan, has announced his departure from the club.

With the Gunners expected to be very active in the summer transfer window, not only will there be new signings, but several players are also set to leave.

Amario Cozier-Duberry and Arthur Okonkwo Set to Leave

Yesterday, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Amario Cozier-Duberry is set to leave Arsenal.

Now, another Hale End graduate, Arthur Okonkwo, has confirmed his exit.

The news has drawn reactions from many, including Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who sent a heartfelt farewell message on social media.

Despite coming close to leaving in 2021, Mikel Arteta convinced him to stay, leading to a new three-year contract.

However, Okonkwo never got a chance to prove himself in a competitive game at the Emirates.

Over the last two seasons, he spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra, Sturm Graz, and most recently, Wrexham.

Despite shining in his loan spells, there was no room for him in Arsenal’s current setup, prompting the club to release him.

Okonkwo shared an emotional farewell on Instagram, reflecting on his 15 years at the club.

“The time has come to say goodbye,” Okonkwo wrote.

“Having joined the Club in 2009 at 8 years old, I have so many incredible memories from over 15 years. I’ve made friends for life and owe so much to all the coaches I’ve worked with, teammates I’ve played with, fans who’ve supported me, and everyone involved with the Club for helping me grow and develop into the person and player I am today. Arsenal will always be special to me and I hope to see them be successful in the coming years. Thank you!”

Ian Wright responded to Okonkwo’s post with: “Thank you for your time. I hope you have all the success the hard work you put in deserves.”

Charlie Patino, another player who might leave Arsenal, also wished him well: “All the best bro!”

Arsenal’s Goalkeeping Choices: Raya, Ramsdale, and Hein

David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale are currently Arsenal’s primary goalkeepers.

For Okonkwo, the best-case scenario would have been a third-choice role, but Arsenal has decided to put their faith in Karl Hein instead.

Reports indicate that Hein, a full Estonia international known for his penalty shootout heroics in friendlies against Lyon in Dubai, has been convinced to sign a new contract.

Hein, who saved four penalties in a single shootout, has been chosen over Okonkwo.

It will be interesting to see if Hein will get more opportunities in the future, given Arsenal’s confidence in his abilities.

As another Arsenal player leaving, fans can expect significant changes in the squad.
