Arsenal star, Thomas Partey, is closing in on a new deal in North London, with his current contract expiring next month.

Following the completion of Arsenal’s campaign, heads at The Emirates will now turn to what is expected to be a huge summer transfer window.

While the Gunners are already considering the deal for Real Sociedad midfielder, Martín Zubimendi, as completed, they are also keen to sign a forward, with the likes of Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Šeško on their radar.

However, while it will be a busy summer in terms of incomings and departures, ensuring their key players are retained will be equally as important for the club.

The Gunners have reportedly already opened talks with William Saliba and Leandro Trossard over new deals, and Bukayo Saka’s negotiations are set to be intensified this summer.

While Arsenal have chosen not to exercise the right to keep Jorginho for an additional year, his fellow midfielder, Thomas Partey, is in talks over an extension in N5.

According to reliable source, HandOfArsenal, on X, formerly Twitter, the North London club are now in final round of talks to renew the Ghanian’s contract.

The negotiations have gone very well, and now both camps are confident of reaching an agreement, with a short term deal with a variable wage structure on the table.

Speaking last week on Partey, Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, stressed the 31 year-old’s importance to the side: “Thomas, I think consistency-wise it’s been his best season. I think the way he’s played and performed, his availability has been exceptional and he’s a really important player for us.”

He added that upon the completion of the campaign, there is now time to sit down and finalise details over various contract ordeals.

Despite previous questions being asked surrounding Partey’s availability in red and white, the midfielder has played 52 games this season, more than any other previous, and a stark contrast from just the 16 he managed in the year prior.

With multiple positions needing to be addressed this summer, retaining key players could be vital to success in the upcoming campaign.
