Trippier: Partey would ‘fit in perfectly’ in the Premier League

As we all know, Kieran Trippier played for Arsenal rivals Spurs for most of his playing career, but has since made a move to Atletico Madrid in the La Liga. During his time at Atletico, he has had the pleasure of playing alongside Ghanaian international Thomas Partey, who has recently been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. As Mikel Arteta tries to rebuild his team, he faces the difficulty of trying to attract big name players without Champions League football, hence why Arsenal fans aren’t positive when links like this one are made.

Thomas Partey is a player who has impressed many La Liga fans during his time at Atletico, and continues to improve on his game as he approaches his prime footballing years. Whilst he’s clearly a fan favourite at the Wanda Metropolitano, it has always been expected that he would one day move on for a bigger challenge.

Despite playing for Spurs, Trippier has handed Arsenal fans with much needed positivity surrounding the transfer as he explains how Thomas Partey would “fit in perfectly” in the Premier League and is very confident in his ability to succeed in England. Speaking on The Beautiful Game Podcast, Tripper said: “I’d seen him play for Atletico but I didn’t realise how good he is. He’s unbelievable, his physicality, how he breaks up play. Technically, he’s got everything.”

“Do you see him making a move in the near future?”

He then added: “Thomas is still a very young player and everyone loves him out here.” and when asked whether he could make the switch to the Premier League, he said “Who knows? Obviously I want him to stay here because he’s a valuable member to our team. He speaks perfect English, very good English. I don’t think he’d have a problem with the Premier League.”

“Has he asked you about the Premier League?”

Kieran Trippier: “Not really. Everybody watched the Premier League out here. He just asks what’s it like, the style of play, but a few players have. It doesn’t mean they are leaving by the way!

“It’s just about certain players who play in the league, what it’s like and I just say. The Premier League is the Premier League and is one of the best leagues in the world.”
