Christos Tzolis has gone without a goal in a competitive fixture for Arsenal since his summer move from Club Brugge, but the forward says he is not worried about ending that run.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Tzolis made clear he still believes his finishing touch will arrive sooner rather than later. β€œI'm confident that the goals will come,” Tzolis said, according to Sky Sports.

No goals yet, but belief remains

Tzolis arrived at Arsenal in the summer with a reputation built on his output in Belgium, where he was a regular scorer and creator for Club Brugge. Since switching to north London, however, he is still searching for his first competitive goal in Arsenal colours.

That has not shaken his outlook. In the same Sky Sports interview, Tzolis also pushed back on suggestions that Arsenal are light in attacking options, rejecting the idea that the Gunners are short up front despite the scrutiny on his own scoring record.

Arsenal have continued to find the net through other sources this season, with the likes of Kai Havertz and Mikel Merino among those sharing the goalscoring load in different competitions. That depth has allowed Mikel Arteta some flexibility in how he uses his forward options, including giving minutes to a player like Tzolis as he adapts to a new league and a new system.

Context around the squad

The comments from Tzolis come during a period when Arsenal have been navigating a demanding fixture schedule across the Premier League and Champions League. Arteta has recently played down talk of the club facing a hectic run of away games, while also providing updates on the fitness of senior players such as Ben White, who received an England recall, and William Saliba, who has returned to training after injury.

Arsenal most recently beat Slavia Prague, though Arteta was critical of a shaky second half performance that he described as β€œfar from our standards.” Those results and performances form the backdrop against which Tzolis is trying to break his duck in Arsenal colours.

For now, the Greece international remains focused on his own process rather than the pressure of a specific drought. Whether that first goal arrives in the Premier League or in a cup competition, Tzolis has made his stance clear: he expects it to come, and soon enough, if given the opportunities in Arteta's side.
