Arsenal face another injury concern during the international break, with Gabriel Martinelli becoming the latest player to experience fitness problems.

This comes as a fresh blow to Mikel Arteta’s side, already dealing with injury issues and potentially losing key players ahead of their return to Premier League action.

Martinelli’s Injury Update

According to a report from TNT Sports Brazil, Martinelli left Brazil’s national team training session on Sunday after feeling discomfort in his tendon.

Although initial reports suggest the injury may not be serious, the Arsenal winger underwent a medical examination and is awaiting results.

Early indications point to a calf issue, casting doubt on his availability for Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Peru on Wednesday.

This is worrying news for Arsenal, particularly with Bukayo Saka also a potential absentee for the weekend’s match against Bournemouth.

Martinelli has recently hit form, contributing two goals and two assists in his last three games, so his potential absence could disrupt Arteta’s attacking options just when they need him most.

Arteta’s Concerns Mount

Mikel Arteta would be forgiven for feeling frustrated, as the international break, often dubbed the “Interlull” by fans, has already presented a few challenges for Arsenal.

Injuries during these periods have frequently impacted the Gunners’ campaign, and with another international break scheduled next month, there’s a sense of unease about how this could affect the club’s momentum in domestic and European competitions.

The timing is particularly unfortunate as Arsenal are currently in good form and aiming to maintain pressure at the top of the Premier League table.

If Martinelli joins Saka on the sidelines, Arsenal will have to find other ways to generate creativity.
